Economy is down and so is Table Tennis

Author: admin - Categories: General, News, TableTennisTableShop - Tags: , , , ,

Recently Table Tennis Sales have been down drastically because people aren’t worried about what there child may want for Christmas they are more worried about how am I going to keep my home if I lose my job. The key is that we need to think positive because if we don’t we are only going to get deeper.
Recently Woolworths, a huge high street retailer announced that they are going to go bust and thousands of there employees are going to lose there jobs unless someone buys out the company. Now is this really what we want to be hearing on the news and in the media, it is not going to help the situation we are in.

ITTF Banishes Speed Glues

Author: admin - Categories: General, News, Tips And Tricks - Tags: , ,

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has, as of September 1, 2008, banished a wide variety of solvents used to apply table tennis equipment rubber to rackets. The following is text verbatim from the Chairman of the ITTF Equipment Committee, Odd Gustavsen.

We would like to draw your attention to the decision made in Guangzhou, valid from September 1, 2008 (The Law 2.4.7.):

The covering material should be used as it has been authorised by the ITTF without any physical, chemical or other treatment, changing or modifying playing properties, friction, outlook, colour, structure, surface, etc.

This means an absolute ban for the use of boosters (tuners, enhancers, improvers, etc.). The purpose of a booster is to change something – if not, what would be the intention. You may find such products claiming to be harmless, to be allowed by ITTF, or to be without VC (volatile compounds), etc. There is little reason to believe this is true. Please be very sceptical since these are generally bad for your health, even containing poison in some cases.

According to our tests there is no way that a sponge can be treated separate from the covering; refer the usual way a booster is applied, i.e. on the sponge.

Boosters represent a messy, time consuming, costly, unhealthy, and now illegal way of achieving spin and speed, and you may be detected in a tournament. Other and better ways exist for the same purpose.

Brand vs Brand

Author: admin - Categories: General, News, TableTennisTableShop - Tags: , ,

I noticed that I Haven’t wrote a Brand vs. Brand section in a long time now as I have been busy lately, I am still going to stick to the 3 makes Kettler, Cornilleau and Butterfly but I think this time the rankings have changed.

Although Butterfly have just released a new range of blades rubbers etc I prefer Cornilleau and Kettler as there unique quality is unlike most Table Tennis Brands. Cornilleau Promote the family values of Table Tennis as you will be able to see in most of there advertising as well as being the Sponsors and Official table tennis supplier of the World Team Cup 2007 - 2009 - 2011. Kettler has however started to drop of the edge of the modern Table Tennis Brands but it is still fighting strong as most of the old fashioned Table Tennis Players prefers them on top of any Table Tennis make around because of there excellent value and amazing quality.

Olympic table tennis champion and world Number 1 table tennis star has been ordered to explain to team mates about his confrontation with a parking attendant who reportedly caught him urinating outside a karaoke hall.

25 year old Wang Hao was taken to a police station after allegedly kicking the attendant; however he denied the charges of abuse and was later released. Cleared, the young ping pong star went on to apologise to the attendant for verbally abusing him and supposedly paid him $290 to settle the matter.

“He needs to examine himself in front of the team, talk about his feelings and the lessons he’s learned and sound a warning for his other teammates,” men’s coach Liu Guanglie was quoted as saying in Wednesday’s edition of Xiandai Jinbao, a newspaper published by the official Xinhua News Agency.

“In addition to the sanitary repercussions, this story will forever be remembered for this quote. According to a witness, Wang said, “I am the famous Wang Hao! I am the world champion! Does it matter if I beat you?”
