Butterfly
Butterfly the World Leader in table tennis is a brand created by the Tamasu company of Japan in 1954. For most of the last 50 years Butterfly have been at the forefront of the development of top performance table tennis equipment and evidence of this is a vast list of World, European and Commonwealth champions who have used Butterfly equipment over that period. In Britain too, Butterfly has been the leading brand for the last 3 decades. Currently, most of the leading British players use Butterfly equipment. The main reason for Butterfly's world wide phenomenal success is that the company consistently produces the highest quality and best equipment and for this are rewarded with the confidence of the players. Since the early 1970s the most popular rubber throughout the world has been Butterfly Sriver. Sriver's dominance has been challenged recently by the recent introduction of Butterfly Bryce which was the first of a new generation of rubber that uses a completely new production system that builds tension into rubber molecules to store energy longer and produce 18% higher rebound effect. At the European Championships in Zagreb April 2002, all 4 semi-finalists Timo Boll of Germany, Kalinikos Kreanga of Greece, Zoran Primorac of Croatia and Werner Schlager of Austria all use Butterfly blades and rubbers. Butterfly's domination at World level is apparent from the charts below which show the percentage of players in the last World Championship in Osaka, Japan that used Butterfly rubbers (59.6%) and Butterfly blades (59.7%). Similar surveys at recent European championships and World Team championships show the same picture.
